How to Make and Angel

As a company we are very conscious that there are few affordable external drama education facilities, with our various combined skills the company is trying to offer aid to students learning and also aid teachers in varying their process and lesson planning.

Upstage Left have an ever expanding range of experience in theatre and some of our members have studied and worked in specific areas of drama and the creation of theatre.

Teacher and arts classUpstage Left is a new writing theatre company, supporting the development of new writers in playwriting and performance poetry. As part of our Arts Award Welcome offer, we would like to offer discounted tickets to performances, subsidised workshops, and the chance to meet arts professionals and offer work placements. Lincs2Stage

Lincs2StageLincs2Stage is for students from the ages of 11 to 14 (Years 7 to 9), the project turns a group of up to fifteen students into a full theatre company. Each student fills a role which relates to any professional theatre company.

These roles include Artistic Director, Theatre Writers, Stage Management and Design Teams.

Lincs2Stage in actionThe students are offered advice and workshops from seasoned professionals who train the whole group in every area of technical and devised theatre. Common workshops include Advanced Theatre Directing, Set Design, Lighting Design and Writing for Stage. The students are also offered trips to professional venues and theatre productions, including half term workshops run by Upstage Left and the chance to become involved with Upstage Left's professional three show a year season through rehearsal and performance.

The Lincs2Stage pilot project is currently underway, with students from Cherry Willingham Community School and will complete in June 2010 with a performance created entirely by the students at the School Improvement Serivce's 'Arts Celebration Event'.
